James 1 summary by Oba Ogunsade

Why should I count it all joy when tempted? vs 3 and 5 shed some light on this – God allows it that I may be better rooted in him. He already has given me the grace to overcome whatever type of temptation and the choice of tapping into that abundant grace is mine.

On making supplications to God, vs  5-8 highlight the true definition of “asking in faith: and the consequences or implication of wavering; trust me, it is as good as not asking at all!!!

If God expects us to come back to him in restitution, as clearly stated in his word, why do people allow themselves believe they’ve fallen too deep to go back to God in repentance. I see this as a bloody lie and act of deceit from the pit of hell!!! All scripture, I believe is given by inspiration from God. If verse 5 says,

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

why “keep longing thing”, thereby increasing the probability of the trumpet sounding without your ways being made right in the presence of your Redeemer, uhn? I thank God for the grace to have known this earlier in life. Of a truth, the grace of God cannot and should not be taken for granted, but when you err, the wisest thing is to repent, then make conscious and conscientious effort to mitigate against a repetition of such ignoble act.

Why ignoble? Because we are called to a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD. That leads me to the issue of alcohol or cigarette consumption in the Christendom. I will shed more light on this controversial topic if anyone asks me to.

As my pastor, Victor Enebuwa,  says, the fact that God forgives you of your trespasses does not imply you will not bear the natural consequences; forgiveness’ primary purpose is to save your soul from damnation. Though the consequences may be reduced if it will be too much for you to bear; but that’s a decision, I believe is, for him to make.

The unupbraiding nature of God as described by the apostle is testament to the fact that he does not want you to be scared away irrespective of how big you think your sin is. For the sake of emphasis, I shall provide the definition of the word upbraid according to the Microsoft® Encarta (2009) dictionary,

reprimand somebody: to criticize or scold somebody in a harsh manner.

vs 15 simply validates my long held belief that the secret to ensuring you do not fall into temptation is to guard your heart and dispel every though or situation that puts you at the risk of falling into sin i.e if you do not wanna fall into sexual sin, why watch a movie like Sex and the City?

vs 19 provides an interesting definition of humility, a virtue both the rich and poor should possess,

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

The glory of God cannot be made manifest in an angry or proud individual. All glory and praise must must be ascribed to the father of all creations.

I beseech you to read vs 21-27 as God works us to perfection. Amen.

O that the rain of His glory shall fall upon the saints. And let the saints of God say AMEN!!!
